The house is perfect. Everything is beautiful and is done with thoughtfulness, grace & functionality. The decor is outstanding and reflects the desert in a relaxing but quiet way. Every design choice is perfection, fixtures are unique and appliances are all high end. The bathrooms and kitchen are all newly renovated.
We felt right at home immediately. The house was stocked with everything we needed. Just bring yourself, some groceries and sightseeing "do to" list! The location is close to the main strip, so everything you need and want is 5 minutes away, including the entrance to Joshua Tree National Park.
The outdoor area was amazing and peaceful. We spent so much time outside. You feel like you're one with the desert. We spent our evenings enjoying the pool, hot tub, tranquility of the desert, and the sunsets and star gazing were spectacular.
Dara is the perfect hostess. She made us feel so welcome and special!
We already planning our next trip back!

This was honestly one of the best rentals I’ve stayed at! The location was quiet and private; the design was thoughtful; the house was spotless. The hosts also left really clear instructions on the check-in, check-out, and house/local area, which made communication super easy. I would definitely stay here again!

Great for a long weekend in Joshua Tree. Close to amenities from grocery to gas stations. Lovely home with all the amenities. The pool ans hot tub were great for relaxing. And of course the ability to laundry was a huge plus.
Host was very responsive and helpful!

This will be one of your favorites. La Choza is a home that is curated and loved. Every design choice is intentional. Every unique fixture you see, every texture you feel, every utility you use, will give you a luxury home experience that is so far from anything commercial.
Plus if you're looking for somewhere practical and functional, this is also that. The kitchen is fully stocked with a variety of high end cookware, like the cast iron pan, digital thermometer, large cutting board, electric kettle, and the matcha set. Your grocery store trip will be so minimal. It’s also in such close proximity to Joshua Tree, many other options I saw were a lot further. A quick drive to the National Park is definitely something i wouldn’t overlook, your days feel so much more full.
Lastly, Dave and Tara were so kind and so helpful. With their comprehensive guides, there were never any questions using any of the amenities, your experience will be frictionless from day 1.

We have stayed here two years in a row and it was magical each time! The house is pristine and stocked with anything you might need (we stayed a full week both times). Our family thoroughly enjoyed the pool, hot tub, and all the games available at the house. It's an amazing location, just a short drive to grocery stores, restaurants, and Joshua Tree National Park. Dave and Tara provide a lot of useful information regarding the house as well as the surrounding neighborhood, they're also extremely responsive if you ever need to get in touch. Our whole family looks forward to staying again in the future!

I had the most amazing stay here. The location is great as it’s near a grocery store and an entrance to the park. The house was so clean and nice too. Check in process was easy and the owner provided a great guidebook with resources on anything we could possibly need during our stay.
The backyard was incredible too with a great pool with a spectacular view. You have neighbors in front and one to the side however it’s still very private. I’m looking forward to booking here again as it’s the best place I’ve stayed at

Visited this location back in March. We had an amazing time at the house. The weather even though very hot it was also pleasant. Beautiful kitchen and incredible amenities. The back yard was definitely a highlight. Make sure to gaze at the stars! Many good food options around as well. Would definitely go back!

The hosts were so helpful and kind! They set out toys for my 5 year old and gave us so many recommendations. We spent a ton of time in the new pool and had an absolute blast. We LOVED the nearby Noah Purifoy Desert Art museum so much but the showstopper was the Daniel Popper "Transmission" piece. It is an absolute must see. We cannot wait to come back and are anxiously awaiting the next house Dave and Tara are currently working on as well.

From the moment we arrived, the design stopped us in our tracks. Every element felt intentional: the desert-modern aesthetic, the careful curation of furniture and art, the way natural light plays through the space. You can tell they’ve poured genuine care into creating something special, not just decorated a rental property. The attention to design detail is honestly inspiring, even for someone who obsesses over these things in my own listings.
The backyard and pool area? Pure magic. We spent hours out there, completely unwinding in a way that’s rare to find. The layout encourages you to slow down, whether lounging poolside with morning coffee or stargazing in the evening. It’s the kind of outdoor space that becomes the heart of your stay.
But what really sets Dave and Tara apart are the thoughtful touches you don’t often see anymore. The amenities were comprehensive and high-quality, including everything from a well-stocked kitchen to premium bath products to those little extras you don’t realize you need.

We stayed at LA Choza 29 last May and had a wonderful time. The host was incredibly responsive and easy to communicate with. The place looked exactly like the photos—if anything, even better in person. Everything was super clean, and the kitchen was stocked with everything you can (and can’t!) imagine, which made the stay so easy and comfortable. It’s gorgeous and feels very private, with a secluded backyard and no one around. The saltwater pool, hot tub, and BBQ area are perfectly set up to cool off during hot days and warm up during cooler desert evenings. Location was also ideal—about a 10-minute drive to the national park and to groceries. We loved our stay and would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a little luxury in the desert.

A fantastic stay just outside JTNP! Dara’s place was exactly what we wanted for our desert stay. Beautifully decorated, well laid out floor plan, and plenty of room for our family of four. Amazing kitchen with everything you need. The outdoor spaces are gorgeous and we spent every morning and evening either on the front or back porch. Location was perfect for our two hike days. Eight minute drive to 49 Palms trail and a twenty five minute drive to Arch Rock. Incredible restaurant recommendations as well — we had dinner at KITD and it was fabulous. All around five star stay in the desert!

Oh boy, I don't even know where to start on this review. La Choza as a home and Dave and Tara as hosts are simply the best. We have rented AirBnBs and other properties all over the world, and I can say without any doubt or hesitation that this was the best rental we have ever stayed in. It is really a master class in rental superlatives: the most responsive, proactive, thoughtful hosts; the most thoughtfully curated, well provisioned, and comfortable spaces; the most comfortable mattress and pillows in any rental ever (maybe more comfortable than my own mattress!); the best supplied kitchen.... The list goes on and on. We rented La Choza for 6 nights on a working vacation so we really used the home (and kitchen and hot tub) as much more than a place to sleep between hikes in Joshua Tree. We found nothing to be lacking. The house has the best energy. I would stay here over and over and over again! Thanks for sharing your piece of paradise with us!

Stunning home; and even more amazing host! They've really covered all your questions and needs with their digital welcome handbook (which is amazing)! On top of that, they are available if you need anything and checked in on us throughout our stay at the Airbnb in case we needed anything. The home is better in person, just beautiful. The host did an amazing job, and feels cozy yet luxurious. Perfect location for a nice getaway from the busy city.

Wow! My family stayed at La Choza for two weeks while we explored JTNP and the surrounding areas. It was the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring! From the charming decor to the spectacular pool and hot tub, we found ourselves enjoying several days without leaving the house!! We paid extra for the heated pool in December and the kids utilized it every day, well into the evening!! They especially loved the colorful lights in the pool AND bathrooms! The beds were divine and the kitchen top notch! Dara was a perfect host, getting back to us quickly and checking in on how we were doing. The neighborhood was quiet and we felt safe, even at times forgetting we had neighbors! There are so many wonderful places to visit and explore on this area and La Choza was the perfect base camp!! We highly recommend this beautiful desert home!
